Big Kahuna Burger, the famous burger from the Tarantino movies

Today we are going to take a leap from the big screen to the kitchen by making the Big Kahuna Burger, the famous hamburger from the Tarantino movies, whose recipe we offer you today. Although the Big Kahuna hamburger chain does not exist, its reputation for making tasty hamburgers transcends the big screen and when imagining it, many believe that this brand offers the best hamburgers in the world.

This Big Kahuna burger is a recurring feature in Quentin Tarantino movies, having been featured both in Reservoir Dogs, Death Proof, Four rooms, Open Until Dawn, and of course in Pulp Fiction in which Samuel L. Jackson exclaims while trying it out: "Big Kahuna, Mmmh, that's a really tasty burger!

Being a fictional product, there are no references to the true flavor or exact ingredients of this burger although I have found some recipes in English that have interpreted it. All agree that it has a Hawaiian point, and that it has to be very juicy. This is my recipe for the most famous burger in Tarantino movies.

How to make Big Kahuna Burger, the famous burger from Tarantino movies

Difficulty: easy
  • Total time 20 m
  • Elaboration 10 m
  • Cooking 10 m

The making of this hamburger requires -to be truly a tasty hamburger worthy of moving Samuel L. Jackson- a process of making something more elaborate than a homemade hamburger. The first part is to mix the meat, working the two types of meat, adding the caramelized onion and the very minced pickle. Then it is seasoned and left to rest. Due to the name Big Kahuna I have decided to add a pinch of Cajun spices that give it a very special touch.

After resting the mixture in the fridge for an hour, it is easy to shape the burger, which I stretched to be similar in size to the bun. The other processes to assemble this hamburger are to lightly toast the buns to make them slightly crisp, brown the pineapple slices, and fry the bacon until it is well toasted.

Once we have everything ready, we make the hamburger on the grill with medium high temperature, so that it is well browned on the outside and juicy inside. It will take two or three minutes for each face. When we turn it over, we place a slice of cheese -preferably a slice of cheddar- and we are assembling the hamburger.

On the bread, place the lettuce and on it the cheese burger. We cover the cheese with three slices of bacon and top with two well-browned pineapple slices. As a garnish, we have prepared some fried potatoes, leaving a little ketchup and mustard on hand for each one to add to their liking.

With which to accompany the Big Kahuna burger, the famous hamburger from the Tarantino movies

It is not necessary to know by heart the psalm that Samuel L. Jackson recites before shooting, but it is nice to review his pronunciation of the phrase This is a tasty burger To say it when taking the first bite of the Big Kahuna Burger, the famous hamburger from the Tarantino movies. Do not forget some chips and you will see how you like the contrast of flavors implied by that first bite and how you cannot stop until you finish it.
