Mustard Cheese Spirals, Easy and Delicious Snacking Recipe


This recipe for cheese and mozarella spirals is ideal to take advantage of the pieces of cheese that are left in the fridge, of any cheese, that's why I have not put any special variety. I took advantage of a piece of manchego and the result was delicious.

I served these sticks as an appetizer at a formal meal and we all really liked them. I thought that next time I will sprinkle them with toasted sesame or sunflower seeds. The truth is that they admit many variations and are so easy to prepare that there is no excuse not to dare to make them.


For 25 units
  • Sifted wheat flour 75 g
  • Salt a pinch
  • Butter at room temperature 50 g
  • Grated cheese 50 g
  • Yolk 1
  • Dijon mustard 5 ml

How to make mustard cheese spirals

We start by putting the flour, salt and butter in a bowl and rub with our fingers until they form crumbs. We add the cheese and mix. Besides, we beat the yolk with a tablespoon of cold water and the mustard. We add to the crumbs and knead.

We form a ball with the dough, wrap it with transparent film and store it in the fridge for 15 minutes. After this time, we take it out and extend it, giving it a rectangle shape. With a sharp knife, we cut strips about 1 cm wide.

We turn each strip of dough to give it a spiral shape. Arrange the spirals on a baking tray covered with parchment paper or spread with butter and cook for 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 200ºC. We let them cool and they are ready to eat.
