Banana flan, a simple and delicious dessert recipe (to give way to those ripe bananas that nobody wants to eat)


At home we always have bananas in the fruit bowl. We like them for their taste, their nutritional value and for how easy and comfortable they are to eat. However we cannot always account for them as quickly as we should and we end up with ripe bananas that no one wants to eat. Luckily there are ways to take advantage of them and this recipe for banana flan is one of them.

It is extremely simple to prepare and it always comes out well. That's why we repeat it over and over again and we don't get tired of it. The banana flan is much richer cold, fresh out of the fridge. Avoid the temptation to get your hands on it ahead of time. Will you be able?

  • Milk 440 g
  • Sugar 35 g
  • Eggs 4

How to make banana flan

Difficulty: Easy
  • Total time 30 m
  • Elaboration 10 m
  • Cooking 20 m

We preheat the oven to 180º C, with heat up and down.

Heat the milk with the sugar and add the lemon peel. When it reaches the boiling point, remove it and let it cool down for a few minutes. Meanwhile we peel the bananas, mash them with a fork in a large bowl. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice, the eggs and beat until smooth.

Little by little we add the milk, passing it through a strainer and stirring at the same time. Cover the base of the flan with a little caramel, fill with the flan mixture and cook in the oven for 18-20 minutes or until firm. Let cool, better if it is in the refrigerator, before unmolding and serving.

With what to accompany the banana flan

We can go for the classic and traditional and accompany the banana flan with a little chantilly cream or sweetened whipped cream, a scoop of ice cream and a few pieces of fresh fruit. However, we like them as is, without frills. You don't need anything more than the desire to enjoy a sweet bite and that's it.
