Chocolate and molasses cookies. Dessert recipe

My house, the community stairs and I would swear that even my neighborhood smells like chocolate today, thanks to these chocolate and molasses cookies. It seems incredible to me that this aroma can permeate an entire building just by opening and closing the oven door for a few moments.

In another sense, I need advice, I think my daughter, my niece and my brothers-in-law are becoming chocoadictos and, the worst thing is that they ask me, whenever they feel like eating something with chocolate, I have to think about it. fear, because I don't know whether to unhook them or charge them.

The ingredients

150 grams of chocolate for topping, 100 of unsalted butter, 220 grams of flour, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 100 grams of brown sugar, 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons of rice molasses, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, icing sugar for garnish.

Preparation of chocolate and molasses cookies

We preheat the oven to 180º C.

Melt the chocolate and butter, stirring constantly and taking care not to stick (we can do it in a bain-marie, in the microwave or directly in a saucepan on the fire). We remove from heat and let it cool down.

In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Next we add the brown sugar, the slightly beaten egg, the vanilla, the molasses and the melted chocolate that we had cooling. We stir and mix well.

In the oven tray, we put baking paper and on the paper we place spoonfuls of the cookie dough, leaving a couple of centimeters between them, to avoid sticking since when heated they dilate.

Bake the cookies for 12 minutes, remove, let cool and sprinkle with icing sugar.

We will serve the chocolate and molasses cookies, once cold.

When we remove them from the oven it can give us the feeling that they are still tender, but it should not worry us, since as they cool down they are left with a crisp texture.

Rice molasses can also be substituted for cane honey.
