For some time now, the rise and spread of Peruvian cuisine and its excellent products has been growing and today we can say that the new Andean cuisine is fully topical. Today we have learned with joy about the recognition given to the Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio, who has been the winner of the World Gastronomy Prize awarded annually by the prestigious Swedish restaurant guide White Guide.

The award was presented to Gastón Acurio by Prince Carlos Felipe of Sweden at a ceremony held in Stockholm. According to the guide, the reason for the award is to have developed a new form of cuisine called novoandina, whose characteristics are gastronomic wealth, support for local products and future prospects.

In his first reaction, Acurio pointed out that "the award is for Peru, both for cooks and producers, researchers and other entrepreneurs who work every day for their love for their country." He modestly added that there are thousands of people who deserve the award before him.

One of the factors in rewarding the Peruvian chef, regardless of the quality of his cuisine and the presence of his Astrid & Gastón restaurants in many countries, has been his commitment to helping people without resources and in difficult social situations, through from her cooking school.
