Gastronomic tribute to Leonardo Da Vinci at Café de Oriente

Desserts

Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the great figures of the Renaissance. Inventor, artist, musician, writer and cook, yes you hear it. But in addition, Da Vinci was a great gourmet who even opened his own restaurant. And today they pay him a gastronomic tribute at the Café de Oriente

We owe him great contributions to the kitchen, such as napkins or three-prong forks. He even opened his restaurant, where he served very original dishes that resulted in a resounding failure, accustomed to the huge meals of the Renaissance.

Now the anniversary of his death is commemorated and for this, the Café de Oriente has wanted to recreate a commemorative menu to this great artist. Gabriel Torres, maitre d 'of this central restaurant and has commented on this original menu.

Torres has told us that “after much research, we have created a menu inspired by this mythical figure. Composed of seven dishes, including dessert, and paired with wines and cavas, we have recreated Renaissance food adapted to our time. "

The menu consists of dishes as varied as the aromatic herb salad, the charcoal oyster, the quail pickled with polenta, the lion X sausage, the reo or the shepherd's cake, and for dessert, sponge cake, marzipan and toasted egg yolk .

If you want to try, these days began yesterday and will end on the 30th. The price of the Renaissance menu is adapted to times of crisis, so for 45 euros, you can immerse yourself in another era.
