Ikea releases its meatball recipe, with an instruction manual like that of its furniture

The English subsidiary of Ikea, the popular Swedish furniture chain, has published a manual explaining how to make its popular meatball recipe.

Although it is a very popular recipe in the Scandinavian country, which has multiple versions, until now we had not known exactly what the one served in Ikea restaurants was like.

The recipe is in English, but here we leave it translated. We have not yet tried this version of the recipe, but we leave you all the instructions as they appear in the manual for you to judge for yourself.

Ingredients

  • Chopped veal 500 g
  • Minced pork
  • Onion 1
  • Garlic clove 1
  • Bread crumbs 100 g
  • Egg 1
  • Whole milk tablespoons 5
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Vegetable oil
  • Butter 40 g
  • Wheat flour 40 g
  • Vegetables soup 150 ml
  • Meat broth 150 ml
  • Liquid whipping cream with the highest possible percentage of fat 150 ml
  • Teaspoons soy sauce 2
  • Teaspoon Dijon mustard 1

How to make Ikea dumplings

You must first make the meatballs. Mix the minced beef and pork in a bowl and unpack well with your hands to avoid any lumps. Add the finely chopped onion and garlic, the breadcrumb and the egg. Mix everything well with your hands, add the milk and season generously.

Make small meatballs with your hands and go depositing them on a plate. Cover it and let it sit in the fridge for two hours, which will help them keep their perfect shape. After this time, fry the meatballs in hot oil, at medium temperature. Brown them on all sides and place them on a baking sheet. Once they are all well fried you must heat them in an oven, at 180º C or 160º with a fan, for half an hour.

While the meatballs are just cooking it's time to make the sauce. In a saucepan, melt the butter. Add the flour and stir well for two minutes. Add the two types of broth and continue stirring. When the sauce is thick, add the cream, soy sauce, and mustard. Keep stirring until the sauce has a homogeneous color and serve it together with the meatballs.
