Jesús Almagro winner of the X Chef's Championship

We already have a Spanish representative for the Bocuse D’Or International Championship of Chefs to be held next January 2007 in Lyon (France).

After a difficult vote in which the regional champions of several autonomous communities participated, Jesús Almagro, from the Pedro Larumbe restaurant in Madrid, was proclaimed the winner.

Jesús Almagro presented a cut of white grouper with green pistachio mojo and butter from Jerez (although other publications say it was a taco of red salmon, prawn and ginger ravioli, white asparagus and butter from Jerez) and a chicken Roti "homage barbecue ”that seduced the jury chaired by Juan Mari Arzak and described as attractive in its presentation and a pronounced taste. The winner of the X Spanish Chef's Championship highlighted the high level of his colleagues and declared “I am happy, but I am aware of the responsibility that falls on me. The Bocuse D´or is a very important challenge. I would love to be able to show in France that Spanish cuisine has a lot to say. Now a year of very hard work awaits us ”.

The second position in the contest went to Daniel Negreira, Basque representative of the Illarra restaurant and the third place, representative of Castilla y León, was Javier Mariscal of the Llantén restaurant. The only woman who participated in the contest, Susana Castiñeira from Galicia, received the diploma for Best Kitchen Assistant.

We are sure that the Spanish representative will put our gastronomy at the top in the next Bocuse D’Or International Chefs Championship. !! Congratulations!!
