Katara, taste of the Amazon

Desserts

Katara is a typical hot sauce from the Venezuelan Amazon. It is made by the indigenous people with chili peppers, and bachaco (ferocious giant ant from the Amazon jungle) as the main ingredients. The texture of this spicy is grainy and has aphrodisiac qualities. The itching sensation is produced by the poison used by the bachaco to defend itself.

It is a challenge to the palate for those who visit the Amazon. In recent years, its consumption in Venezuela has become a bit popular, so it is very likely that if they visit another region of the country they can get it.
