Nachos with chicken and bacon: recipe for the appetizer


The nachos are one of the typical dishes that can be prepared for the aperitif and that will please all your guests. Full of flavor and designed to be eaten with your hands, this recipe originates from Mexico and has been internationalized in such a way that it can be found in many other countries with very ingenious or curious local adaptations.

Today I invite you to prepare this recipe for nachos with chicken and bacon that are wonderful because of the delicious combination of these two main ingredients. To give them a touch of freshness, we are going to prepare a quick, non-spicy pico de gallo sauce that we will serve with the warm nachos.

  • Fried corn nachos 300 g
  • Chicken breast 1
  • Chopped bacon 150 g
  • Grated cheese 100 g
  • Ripe tomato 1
  • White onion 0.5
  • Lemon 1
  • Sunflower oil 15 ml
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Jalapeno pepper (optional) 1

How to make chicken bacon nachos

We are going to boil the chicken breast for about 25 minutes. When it is well cooked we let it cool and we shred it. We heat vegetable oil in a pan in which we are going to put the chicken with the chopped bacon. Salt and pepper, stir and leave on the fire, at medium intensity, about 10 minutes, until the bacon is slightly crisp.

To prepare the pico de gallo we are going to cut the tomato into quarters, remove the seeds and finely chop it. We also chop the onion and mix these two ingredients in a bowl. We add the lemon juice, salt and pepper. If you want a spicy version of the pico de gallo you can add a deveined and minced jalapeño pepper.

To assemble the dish we are going to place the chips in a baking dish. We cover them with the chicken and bacon mixture and the grated cheese. We put in the hot oven, at 200ºC, for about 10 minutes. Remove the oven and serve with the pico de gallo and more jalapeño peppers if necessary.

These delicious nachos with chicken and bacon should be enjoyed freshly prepared, so I recommend making them a few minutes before you are going to serve them. You can perfectly well have all the ingredients like the chicken, the bacon or the pico de gallo ready and assemble the plate of nachos at the last minute. If you prefer them spicy, you can add chopped jalapeño peppers or a spicy sauce such as Valentina or Tabasco sauce.
