Another study in favor of the Mediterranean diet
And I say another, because every day there are more studies that "speak" in favor of the Mediterranean diet. The study that appears today widely reviewed in the Spanish press, is actually the presentation of the preliminary results of an investigation called Predimed, whose objective is'make dietary recommendations in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases'.
This study, prepared by scientists from the Seville Institute of Fat, which is not a gastronomic club although it may seem so by name, but a research center attached to the CSIC, has studied the effects of the Mediterranean diet on the risk of suffer from cardiovascular diseases. Three diets were compared: Mediterranean Diet + Olive Oil, Mediterranean Diet + Nuts, and finally, another type of low-fat diet. All three caused a decrease in LDL Cholesterol (bad cholesterol for friends), but the first of the diets mentioned was the one that produced the best results. To this must be added that in the two Mediterranean diets HDL cholesterol rose (this is the good one). There is more information that you can consult in the article that I recommend, but what is cited by itself is very significant. The same more in favor of the Mediterranean diet.
