New York Style Pizza In Guay Si (NYC)
A couple of weeks ago I read a comment from Alberto Llorente on twitter saying that he had eaten New York style pizza in Madrid. I leave the link to his comment as is on twitter. So a lover of gastronomy and a lover, as you know, of good pizzas had the obligation to go and try. So last weekend we went to En Guay Si Pizza.
The first of all is to clarify its strange name in this way. Maybe for a sharp mind it is clear to the naked eye but for those who do not, the pun is the sea of original. In Cool If that's the way to say the acronym for New York City, NYC.
I liked the place, I liked it a lot. Well, I have to say that it was a bit complicated to enter, and the doors are sliding and we did not see where to grab it to enter. But after the problem was corrected about 15 seconds later we entered.
It is a small place, it does not have big decorations which makes it more real. On the one hand we have the bar area and behind the pizza oven and the preparation area. In addition, from the production area they can directly attend street orders.
Otherwise concrete floors with varnish and the letter in a giant plan on one wall. The truth is that the attention is a very good point, they are very good at attending, they give you very friendly conversation and nothing intrusive. They come from Miami directly to Madrid to make this type of pizzas.
New York pizza is characterized by being a thin and quite wide pizza. It is usually eaten in portions and because it is thin and quite flexible it can even be folded to eat it. Traditional ingredients are added to a margarita pizza base - tomato and mozzarella - and there are not many rare ingredients that we can find in very commercial pizzerias around here.
For example, we have as optional ingredients: pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, green pepper, onion, meatball, bacon, ham, fresh garlic, black olive, anchovy, eggplant, pineapple, basil and fresh tomato.
Or you can choose one of their suggestions, all of them very normal. Please, let's claim this type of pizzas, long live normality! The meatball, with meatballs, sausage and bacon. Pepperoni, Hawaiian, Vegetarian, Sailor or Garlic.
The way to make it is great. They roll out the dough and it stretches in the air. Then the selected ingredients are added with great care. While you can have a drink. Of course, they do not take long, no more than 10 minutes to make the pizza.
It's great. The taste in Madrid for good pizzas has been lost and the fault lies with all those multinational brands that tell us that they sell pizzas and are nothing like what good pizza should be. Just tell you that it is worth taking the Metro or taking the car to eat one of these pizzas.
It should be a Mecca for good pizza lovers.
