Stewed chicken with hazelnut sauce, recipe with oriental flavor


I love chicken in almost any recipe and am always encouraged to try other ways to prepare it. Yesterday I made to eat a chicken stewed with hazelnut sauce that I liked so much that here I am running to explain how to do it, since it is one of those dishes with an intense flavor and very very tender meat.

You can also make this recipe using turkey, and if you don't want to use hazelnuts, you can also make the recipe with walnuts, almonds or pine nuts, or a mixture of both. The recipe will have a marked oriental flavor and will remind you of those Chinese restaurant dishes.


For 4 people
  • Chicken (It can be breast, thighs etc but boneless) 500 g
  • Hazelnuts 150 g
  • Soy sauce to taste
  • Italian green pepper 1
  • Red pepper 0.5
  • Onion 1
  • Chicken soup 350 ml

How to Make Chicken Stew with Hazelnut Sauce

Chop the onion into fine brunoise and fry it in a pan with four tablespoons of olive oil. While it begins to cook, we chop the peppers into bite-size pieces and add them to the skillet.

Add three tablespoons of soy sauce and the chicken cut into strips, stirring everything while the chicken changes color. At that time, we add the nuts and the homemade chicken broth, letting it cook over high heat for 8 minutes.

We lower the fire. While it is still cooking, remove a few hazelnuts with a tablespoon or two of broth and crush them in the mortar, reintegrating the mixture into the saucepan so that the sauce thickens a little.

We taste and correct the salt if necessary adding a little more soy sauce and serve very hot.The chicken has to be very tender, being a little overcooked and the sauce has to have an intense hazelnut flavor.
