Meatballs with Teriyaki sauce recipe

Since I learned how to make homemade Teriyaki sauce, I like to find uses for it in the kitchen beyond giving a touch of flavor to some noodle wok. That is why when I saw this recipe for meatballs with Teriyaki sauce in Damn Delicious it did not take long to prepare it.

Although at first glance they look like simple meatballs watered with this Japanese sauce, inside they hide a ginger heart that gives them a unique and very special flavor, with a slightly spicy point, but above all refreshing, which means that you cannot stop eat one meatball after another.

Ingredients for 16 meatballs

  • 500g minced beef and pork, 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, 1 egg yolk, 2 tablespoons minced parsley, 1 clove minced garlic, 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, salt and Pepper. Teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds to serve.

How to make meatballs with Teriyaki sauce

To prepare meatballs with Teriyaki sauce is to sew and sing. The only ingredient that is a little difficult to find is fresh ginger, although I often find it in Pakistani greengrocers. Ginger is a kind of tuber (actually an underground stem) that is easily grated into a kind of paste, although we can also buy it in powdered and bittersweet tin, which is the one used for sushi.

In a bowl we put all the ingredients except the Teriyaki sauce and the sesame seeds. We knead well so that the ingredients are evenly distributed and we shape the meatballs with our hands. There should be about 16.

Then we place the meatballs on a tray with baking paper and bake at 200ºC for 15 minutes, until they have browned. Meanwhile, we can take the opportunity to have a drink, clean the kitchen or prepare a homemade Teriyaki sauce, which is very easy and is richer than the pot sauce.

Finally, with the meatballs ready, we serve them hot washed down with abundant Teriyaki sauce and decorated with some sesame seeds and a little chopped parsley.

The meatballs with Teriyaki sauce are perfect to give an oriental twist to our meatballs of a lifetime. It's also a good idea to make them smaller and serve as an appetizer. Of course, I already warn you that they are an addiction, that between my girlfriend and I (especially me) we almost finished 16.
