Veal rice recipe

I look like a large commercial area with a week dedicated to something in particular. Today I have another Japanese recipe for rice and beef, it is one of those recipes where everything goes in the same place, one thing on top of the other.

It is a very simple and quick recipe to make. For example, I have cooked rice in a traditional Spanish way, but you can use sushi rice and cook it as usual. Especially if you want to eat it with chopsticks.


  • 500 g of onion, 200 ml of white wine, 100 ml of water, 500 g of beef, 150 ml of soy sauce, 150 ml of mirin, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 500 g of cooked rice, coriander and canned red ginger to taste.

How to make rice with beef

We will start by cutting the onions into fat julienne and the beef into thin strips.

In a saucepan, bring the wine to a boil with the water and add the meat. Let it cook for a few minutes and add the mirin and the soy sauce. Let cook another 5 minutes. Then we cover with aluminum foil so that it touches the ingredients and cover the pot.

We lower the heat and cook for about 10 minutes. Uncover and add the onion, now we will cook until the onion softens.

We put the rice in bowls and on top we distribute the meat and a little broth. We put the red ginger, some coriander leaves and serve.

The cooking of the rice with beef recipe is called "otoshi buta". It is usually made with a wooden lid that is placed inside the casserole directly on the food. It is done to avoid having to cook with a lot of liquid and makes the flavor of the cooked food more intense. With aluminum foil it is somewhat more current.
