Hake tacos with spicy queso fresco sauce: recipe for those who are bored with fish


At home we really like fajitas and tacos, but despite the fact that my boyfriend would have no problem with us always preparing them with meat, I take the opportunity to vary with different fillings. We can also prepare them from fish, as with this recipe for hake tacos with spicy queso fresco sauce.

Actually it has no mystery, you just have to cook the fish, prepare some fresh ingredients such as tomato or lettuce, and a light sauce but with a lot of flavor to make the filling very juicy.

  • Hake fillet 4
  • Necessary breadcrumbs
  • Tomato 2
  • Fresh parsley a bunch (or cilantro)
  • Chilli 1
  • Lime 2
  • Skimmed beaten fresh cheese 100 g
  • Harissa or other spicy chilli paste 2.5 ml
  • Granulated garlic
  • Sweet paprika
  • Ground black pepper
  • Salt
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Flour or corn tortillas 4

How to make hake tacos with spicy queso fresco sauce

Lightly season the hake loins and pass them a little in breadcrumbs. Heat a little olive oil in a pan or grill add them. Cook them on both sides over medium-high heat, until they are golden brown but with juicy meat. Add paprika to taste.

Cut the tomatoes into cubes, trying to remove excess juice. Chop the parsley and chilli, if we use it, removing the seeds. Mix the whipped fresh cheese with the chilli paste, a little lime juice and a pinch of salt.

Chop the fish into small portions. Place a bed of tomato on the tortillas, distribute the hake and add parsley and chilli to taste. Dress with lime juice, a dash of pepper and sauce to taste.
