Culinary Zinema returns to the San Sebastián Film Festival
For yet another year, cinema and gastronomy meet again at the San Sebastián Film Festival, which will include the third edition of Culinary Zinema. This year, seven films accompanied by seven ad hoc dinners, will form the program promoted by the Basque Culinary Center together with the Berlin International Film Festival, which has had a similar section for eight years.
The opening of the cycle will take place on September 21 with the Korean film Final recipe, which is set in the Masterchef contest in its Korean edition. This film will be complemented by a dinner that will take place at the Basque Culinary Center and will be prepared by Dani López from the Kokotxa restaurant and Roberto Ruiz from the Frontón restaurant.
Then other films will come like the Swedish one Love and lemons, with the corresponding dinner by Jose Mari Arbelaitz at the Arbelaitz restaurant, the Japanese film Drops oh heaven, with dinner also at the Basque Culinary Center that Aizpea Oihaneder from the Xarma restaurant and Zuriñe García de Andra Mari will officiate.
Later the Australian film will be screened Make hummus not war, with dinner at the Ni Neu that will be prepared by Mikel Gallo and Josean Alija from the Bilbao restaurant Nerua, the Japanese film A tale of samurai, with dinner offered by Gorka Txapartegi from the Alameda restaurant that will take place at the Basque Culinary Center and will be prepared with a Japanese chef who has yet to be determined.
The highlight will be the recovery on new tape of the beautiful Mexican film Like water for Chocolate which will be followed by a dinner at the Mirador de Ulía that will be prepared by Rubén Trincado. The program ends with the British film Jadoo.
Of course, the program for this third edition of the Culinary Zinema at the San Sebastián Film Festival seems like a rather seductive plan. Tickets for movies and dinners will go on sale on September 1.
